Fast Food vesus Home Cooked Food Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Fast Food vesus Home Cooked Food - Essay Example The fact of the matter remains that the fast food culture has brought about a paradigm shift, which is incremental yet quite revealing in the most basic sense, and much thought and consideration needs to be paid towards such ranks as far as the future undertakings of the society are concerned. One of the most attractive things about fast food is its convenience. A person can walk into a fast food store, or take their car through a drive through fast food outlet and, within five minutes they can have their hot, strong tasting meal ready for them to eat. As a nation, people are generally more busy today than ever before, at least in terms of the speed of their lives. As people are constantly rushing around from one place to another, it makes sense that fast food would be more popular. People who work long hours may not find time to cook a proper meal at home, whereas they can visit a fast food store easily between their other tasks of the day. Furthermore, fast food is convenient as there are so many outlets. Where ever a person is, they usually aren’t far from a fast food restaurant or drive through. Conversely, home cooked food takes time to prepare. Cooking a meal can be time consuming, as can the shopping for ingredients before the actual cooking commences. Also, some ingredients may not be available in one shop and several shops may need to be visited in order to gather all the required ingredients. This, of course, adds to the time taken to prepare the home cooked meal. Unless a person employs a personal chef in their home, preparing a meal at home is not as convenient as a fast food (Myers). A similarity between home cooked food and fast food is that, depending on the individual’s preferences, both can taste very nice and can be satisfying to eat. However, scientists have revealed that the high sugar and salt content in fast food can actually

The report specifically states that Japan and North American are the potential market segments for the company on the basis of vehicle unit sales for the fiscal year 2011. The general tone of the management’s comments indicates that the firm would have attained much more profitability if its operations had not been affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake (Toyota, 2011). The company’s vehicle unit sales declined in its major markets including Japan and North America. However, Toyota could achieve notable improvements in Asia and other market segments as compared to the previous year. This trend indicates that Asia is developing as a potential market segment for Toyota while the company is gradually losing its roots in North Ameri ca. However, the overall vehicle unit sales have been increased from 72, 37,000 in 2010 to 73, 08,000 in 2011 despite the adverse impacts of the earthquake (Toyota, 2011). In total, the fiscal 2011 was good year for the company. The discussion summary shows that the

These challenges being witnessed today will continue to be witnessed in future unless governments come up with responsive policies to address the situation. The best theory to apply in an ethical dilemma for how best to allocate the limited healthcare resources for an aging population and end-of-life care is utilitarianism (Harris, 1987). The theory holds that the best ethically acceptable action is the one that leads to greatest overall benefits. Accordingly, the practical use of utilitarian will be though the application of Quality Adjusted Life Years (QALYs) as a tool of assessing the total gains from heath care approaches compared to others. The ethical challenges to preparation of this healthcare provision are that utilitarian principle in resource allocation fails to offer an equitable approach of distributing resource (Lockwood, 1988). In addition, it fails to consider the variations in need for health care by focusing only on the benefits to be achieved, yet some groups may be more deserving to be allocated those resources. Advantages and disadvantages of measures use to protect operating Research Paper

Advantages and disadvantages of measures use to protect operating system - Research Paper Example Operating system being a program is frequently attacked by viruses and therefore need protection so as to effectively and efficiently operate. There are several measures that are used to protect the operating system. However, the measures have certain disadvantages and disadvantages. This leads to differential in efficiency of measures used to protect the operating system. This paper discusses different measures used to protect the operating system and the advantages and disadvantages of each. It basically concentrates on three measures. Furthermore, it discusses ease of implementation and associated security management issues that need to be addressed. It also ranks the measures used to protect the operating system from the most effective to the least effective. Measures used to protect the operating system There are several measures that are used to protect the operating system. These are meant to deny unauthorized access to the system. They include use of strong password, protection of confidential information, making sure that the operating system and the virus protection are updated. It may also be use of supported and secure applications, wary of suspicious e-mails, storing of confidential information in HSU servers only, data should be provided wit a back up and it should be easily restored. Protection of information in all forms, learning security awareness and inquiring on matters that are not clear or certain. Measures used in protecting the operating system are aimed at protecting information from theft, natural disaster or corruption. It also ensures that information is only accessed by the authorized users. It also protects the operating system from collapse that may be caused by unauthorized persons. There are several measures that are used in protection of operating system as discussed above. However, the paper will focus on three measures only. They are use of a strong password, updating the operating system and the virus protection and data back up and ensuring they can be easily restored (Tatnall, Osorio, and Visscher, 2005, p 67). Use of strong password Operating systems are in most cases protected through passwords by most users. This is because this is one of the cheapest and easiest ways of protecting the operating system. Password may be in form of letters or numbers that are specifically known and recognized by the individual user. Furthermore, a password has to be unique to the user and unknown to unauthorized users. This ensures that unauthorized persons do not access data that they are not allowed to access by the respective persons. Password is widely used to protect the operating system by most users. However, it has both disadvantages and advantages (Meghanathan, 2011, p 79). Advantages of use of strong password (1) Guessing possibilit y; generally guessing a password is one of the most difficult things. This is because passwords are not usually displayed when entered. Passwords may be made long or short depending on the ability of the user to remember the password. This makes password difficult to guess and access the information without knowledge of the authorized user (Kim, and Adeli, 2010, pp 56-96). (2) Simple; passwords are simple and easy to generate. This is because anything may be used as password provided it falls within the accepted number of letters accepted by the system or that can be easily remembered by the user. Password may be words or letters or both. Furthermore, password may be in either upper case or lower case depending on the preference of the user (Kim, and Ad

Is current UK IT law relevant when applied to the cloud computing Dissertation

Is current UK IT law relevant when applied to the cloud computing - Dissertation Example Make recommendations as to how users of the cloud should approach the problem and recommendations for future change to the legislation. 4. The Main Deliverable(s): A critique of current IT law when it applies to cloud computing. A review of how cloud computing or will change the legal context for IT operations management. A set of recommendation for cloud computing users and suggested updates to UK IT law to deal with the problems that come from cloud computing. 5. The Target Audience for the Deliverable(s): Potential users of cloud computing IT legislators 6. The Work to be undertaken: In this research essay, I would concentrate on the following: How to use the services of CSPs without infringing the UK’s laws like Data Protection Act, etc. What are all the safeguards and protection mechanism to be undertaken while using CSP services? Recommendations to initiate adequate measures to safekeeping the data while they are stored with CSPs who are located outside UK jurisdiction. 7. Additional Information / Knowledge Required: The researcher should have additional knowledge on USA Patriot Act if UK companies want to use cloud services offered by US based companies like Microsoft, Amazon and Google Inc. Besides UK laws, the researcher should have extensive knowledge on European Data Protection Directive, intellectual property laws, contracts act, Criminal Procedure and Investigation Act, 1996 (CPIA, 1996) and so on. 8. Information Sources that Provide a Context for the Project: The information and data have been sourced for this project from previous empirical studies, peer viewed journals, books written on the subject on the subject by eminent authors, from online sources, and from sources available from the online libraries. 9. The Importance of the Project: Availing the services of a cloud service contractor and having lost the control over the data processing is an issue relating with security. The problems that emanate from the infringement of the data d emonstrate the confronts that the cloud customers witness when things go haphazard in the cloud atmosphere. Making an in-depth analysis of the risks associated is vital before venturing into the use of the service of a CSP and if the risks are controllable, managing them through incorporating appropriate clauses in the contract. Businesses should exercise more vigil and should not opt for cloud computing purely on the cost basis by ceding poignant control over their data, which may land them later for data infringement offences later. Further, by encrypting the data, business can adhere with residency and jurisdictional needs by maintaining the encryption keys within its jurisdiction in spite of the actual physical placement of the data. 10. The Key Challenge(s) to be overcome: The boiler plate CSP contract should be replaced by an authorised contract for CSP contracts which should have the following clauses: the security of the data of the business to be guaranteed by the cloud com puting service provider; the cloud service provider (CSP) should use data only for the purpose mentioned in the contract, and he should be held accountable if the data is either misused or for non-business purposes: the data handler to inform to the data owner immediately if there is any breach of data or security so as to take immediate precautionary steps by the service
